About Me

My name is Sara Barber, PCA

After 16 years as a stay at home mom, I entered the counseling field to try to understand the mental health issues happening in my own home. We were navigating issues related to Autism, ADHD, and PTSD. My goal was to create a peaceful and loving home, despite the road blocks and speed bumps that are inevitable in life.  I spent 10 years working as a school counselor, and have recently made the jump from education to private practice.

I partner with individuals who are ready to make meaningful personal changes. If you're motivated to improve your outlook on life and committed to taking positive, intentional steps forward, we can make real and lasting progress together.

I believe that all people are capable of making the life that matters to them and, most importantly, makes them happy. We all know we can't control what life has to offer, but we can control how we take all life throws our way!

CBT

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a structured, evidence-based form of psychotherapy that focuses on identifying and changing negative thought patterns and behaviors. It is one of the most widely used and researched types of therapy, effective for a range of mental health conditions.

Person Centered

Person-Centered Therapy is a humanistic approach to counseling developed by Carl Rogers, which emphasizes a non-directive, empathetic, and accepting environment to help clients access their own capacity for self-understanding and personal growth.

DBT

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a form of cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) developed by Dr. Marsha Linehan in the late 1980s, originally to treat Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD). Since then, it’s been adapted for many other conditions involving emotional dysregulation.

Psychoeducational

Psychoeducational therapy is a therapeutic approach that combines psychological support with education to help individuals better understand and manage their mental health conditions. It focuses on building awareness, coping skills, and problem-solving abilities for improved well-being.

Ages 12-92 (and beyond)

I work with a wide variety of clientele, from adolescence and older.

Individual: $110 per hour

Couple and Family: $130 per hour
